FAQS about hosting a retreat in Barbados

How many people can Lancewell House accommodate for a retreat?

Lancewell House sleeps up to 14 guests across 7 bed in 5 bedrooms, making it ideal for small, intimate retreats rather than large-scale group bookings. We would suggest 7 guests for most retreats. The villa can be booked for exclusive use, so your group has the entire property, including all communal areas, to yourselves.

What amenities should I look for in a property when hosting a retreat?

Lancewell House is well known for being the place to host intimate retreats in Barbados. Features that have made our villa a great space for retreats include spacious communal areas, outdoor spaces for activities or relaxation, two fully-equipped kitchens, comfortable sleeping arrangements, reliable Wi-Fi, and a friendly, responsive concierge and property manager, plus easy access to nearby beaches and attractions.

Is catering or a private chef available for retreat guests?

Yes, Lancewell House can arrange a private chef to prepare meals throughout your retreat, alongside our two fully-equipped kitchens for groups who prefer to cook for themselves. This makes it easy to build wellness-focused menus, shared group meals, or a mix of both around your retreat schedule.

How much does it cost to host a retreat at Lancewell House?

Pricing depends on group size, length of stay, and time of year, with more availability and flexible rates typically available during the off-peak season (May to November). Get in touch with us directly with your dates and group size for a tailored quote.

What is the best time of year to host a retreat in Barbados?

Barbados has a warm, sunny climate year-round, but the peak tourist season typically runs from December to April. Hosting during the off-peak season (May to November) can offer more availability and a slower, quieter pace, depending on what your group is looking for.

What popular activities or attractions can I add to my retreat itinerary?

Barbados is known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and rich history. Popular additions include yoga or meditation sessions, water sports such as snorkelling or paddleboarding, exploring historical sites, visiting botanical gardens, and enjoying local cuisine and music. How can I ensure a smooth check-in process for my retreat participants?

Clear communication with your retreat participants is key. We recommend sharing our Welcome Guide with the group in advance, which covers check-in and check-out details. Arriving together as a group, or meeting at the airport, also works well — we can help arrange transportation directly to the villa if needed.

How can I handle any potential issues or emergencies during the retreat?

It's vital to have a plan in place to address any issues or emergencies that may arise. Make sure you have emergency contact information for each of your participants. Our emergency services are also listed in the Welcome Guide. Clearly communicate emergency procedures to your retreat participants and be prepared to assist them if needed.
